Anonymous asked: From my experience, there is not genuine love among the Eastern Rite Catholics and the Western Rite Catholics. Western Rite wants us under their control. They are ironic to us. Not to mention how they treat our orthodox brothers that I wholeheartedly respect.
BOOOO HISSS. That’s a lot of sweeping statements and generalizations, don’t you think? I have seen much love and respect exchanged between both Rites. In fact, ALL Western Rite Catholics I’ve talked with have expressed a great respect and love for the beauty and rich theology of the Eastern Rite! They have also been very passionate about the desire for unity between Eastern Orthodoxy and Catholicism.
Besides, I don’t really think it’s possible for one Rite to “control” another, is it? And I don’t really know what you mean when you say they “are ironic” to you - I apologize if that sounds unkind, but I don’t know if you mean that you see them as ironic or if they are treating you ironically? Either way, it’s not really making sense in my head.
There are bad apples on every tree, and I’ve certainly seen disrespect come out, especially on the “touchy” subjects. But the love has vastly outweighed the negative.
So in conclusion, I say BOO to this comment and give you, Mr(s) Grey, two thumbs down for generalizations and lack of goodwill.
